“Look at the
Apple”
Look at the
apple I have found,
So round and rosy on
the ground.
(Clasp hands to form round
apple.)
Mother will wash it
and cut it in two,
Half for me and half
for you.
(Hold out one palm, then the
other.)

Math - Apple
Matching
Print the attached picture of apples (9 per page). (Click on the
underlined link to get to the picture.)
Make two copies for each child.
One copy for each child will be to make a
“Matching Apples” game. Cut out the apples
on the second copy for each child.
Provider can outline the apples on the game sheet with
a different color for each apple.
Give the children one apple at a
time and let them color it with one of each of the
colors on the game board. When all of
the apples are colored, the
children can match them to the colors on their game
board.
Science - Apple
Exploration
Cut up and identify the parts of
an apple (skin, pulp, seeds). Compare the textures:
skin is smooth, pulp is hard, but can
become soft when mashed, seeds are
hard. Taste the apple. If you use more than one type of
apple you can compare the tastes (sweet, sour).
Cooking - Apple Bagels
Ingredients: apples, cheese,
bagels (or English muffins), cinnamon, knife
1. Place a slice of cheese on half
bagel.
2. Cut an apple across the middle
and remove the core.
3. Make several thin slices of the
apple.
4. Place a slice of apple on the
cheese.
5. Sprinkle with cinnamon.
6. Toast in oven.
Group Time - Apple Hunt
Print the attached picture of an
apple.
Make 2 copies for each child, cut
them out and write the child’s name on each
apple.
Hide one set of apples in your
room.
Pass out the other set of apples
to the children giving each child the apple with their
own name on it.
Have the children find their
matching named apple in the room.
For younger children make red,
green or yellow apples. They can match their apple by
color.
